The 2017 National Congress of Oncology in Queretaro, Mexico

Our very own Executive Director, Simon Davies was invited to speak to the Mexican Society of Pediatric Oncology at their Annual meeting in Quaretaro. His presentation on ‘AYA Oncology, a Global Initaitive’ was extremely well recieved and has motivated the Society to address the issue of young people with cancer. He also showed Hernan Barangan’s new film of LA’s Latino young people sharing their cancer experience in Spanish and this inspiring short film will now also be used in Mexico to help spread the word of #tyacancer!

Simon said of the trip, “It was a privilege to be invited to this national congress, one of the most important oncology meetings in South America. It was also encouraging to see how well the presentations of myself and Professor Siegal’s were received by the delegates. There is much enthusiasm for the development of Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology in Mexico which shows that this is a truly global movement. My thanks go to the organizers and in particular to our gracious host Dr Lourdes Vega Vega who is Director General of the excellent Teleton Foundation Children’s Oncology Hospital In Queretero.”
