Jian Mehta became the first official Play It Back Artist in early 2018. Jian had eclectic tastes in music, leaning toward indie rock. Although he was an avid music fan and accomplished song maker, he hadn’t been making much music since he started his cancer treatments 2 years prior. Jian went on to compose almost 30 new songs and pieces of music after working (playing) with Play It Back. Among many others,
Benny Blanco and Portugal. The Man became fans of Jian’s. He finished recording most of his 6-song EP before his passing in late 2018. It will be released jointly on Friends Keep Secrets (Benny’s label) for Play It Back Songs.
