A Tribute to Justin Wilson

It is with extreme regret and deep sadness that we acknowledge the death of our Ambassador Justin Wilson.
Justin suffered serious head injuries during the Verizon IndyCar Series race at Pocono Raceway which he did not recover from, and, sadly, passed away on Monday August 24th 2015.Justin was a very loving father and devoted husband, as he often stated, and we are sending all our thoughts to his wife, two young daughters, brother and his parents at this moment in time.

He was also a highly competitive passionate racing driver who loved what he did. He was very much a part of the Andretti family and was a respected driver and a valuable team member.

Justin also cared about people and things and that’s why he became involved with Teen Cancer America. He wanted to make a difference in life and saw that young people with cancer needed to be treated together not in children’s units or with the elderly. He helped us promote at the Long Beach Grand Prix, including carrying Teen Cancer America’s logo on his car and joining a press conference with our founder Roger Daltrey.

He was a great sport and delighted in taking part in an online racing session to raise money for Teen Cancer America last year. He loved living in America but was a true Brit, and proud of his native Sheffield.

He was a very popular personality as is evident from the outpouring of the IndyCar World, and we would like to convey our condolescences to the whole of the Indy community. Justin was truly a special person, a great guy both on and off the track – he was doing what he loved to do and we loved him. Thank you Justin Wilson for being you and for all that you did for teens and young adults with cancer.
