Cocktails For Cancer Event
Teen Cancer America board members Maria Taylor and husband, Dr. Glenn Taylor, hosted ‘Cocktails for Cancer’ event in Southbury, CA at the Riverview Cinemas 8 & Playhouse to support TCA. Joined by honorary ambassadors and hosts, Rob and Sheri Moon Zombie, the event featured a unique raffle followed by a Q & A and screening of Cancer Rebellion, a documentary by TCA advocate and director, Hernan Barangan. The event raised a total of $52,000!
“It’s been great to see both Yale and Connecticut Children’s partnering with Teen Cancer America to develop their programs. And locally the outpouring of support from our small local community has been terrific,” said Dr. Glenn Taylor.
Young advocate Kayla was on hand to share her personal story as a young cancer survivor with Leukemia.
“I had an absolutely wonderful time at the event. It was such a well-planned fundraiser. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to speak a little bit about what it is like to be a young person with cancer and what it means to support others like me.”
Hernan Barangan had a chance to meet and talk with director/actor/musician, Rob Zombie and his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie.
“The highlight of the night was meeting Rob and Sheri Moon Zombie. Seeing them both really made me feel like we’ve got the wind at our backs and we’re going to make a huge difference. When I was a teenager going through treatment, there was nobody talking about ‘teen issues’ with cancer. To see a huge group of people come together and benefit young people who have either dealt with or still facing cancer is incredible. It means so much to me.”
Teen Cancer America would like to thank all advocates, board members, supporters, and attendees for coming out to support this wonderful cause. We’re already looking forward to next year!
