TCA To Host Game Nights
Adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology patients are no strangers to quarantine. During treatment and for an extended period of time after, AYAs are immunocompromised and instructed by their medical team to use proper hygiene and be isolated from large groups of people and individuals who may be sick. They mastered learning how to stay busy and cope in a small hospital room or at their homes.
That’s why Teen Cancer America wants to be there for our young people now more than ever. They’re eager to move forward and establish their new normal, but are having to relive those feelings of fear of infection, special events canceled, no school, no work, no travel, etc. They’ve lived that before and continue to experience this, but this time, the whole world is feeling it. We hope that moving forward, we all remember this feeling and show compassion for those that are unable to come out of quarantine. As we return to our normal routines, many young people won’t be able to participate. Sports, dances, concerts will continue to be canceled but this time, just for them.
In an effort to strengthen this community of young people impacted by cancer, TCA is hosting weekly game nights via Zoom to provide an opportunity to connect with peers, distraction from the heavy burdens the world is experiencing, and grow the support of this incredible group. We take the time to get to know each other and play fun, interactive games. If you are an AYA or know one, feel free to pass along this flyer and encourage them to join!
